FAQ's

Got questions? We’ve got answers!

Whether you’re new to dragon boating or just new to our club, this page covers everything you need to know — from what to bring to training and how to get started, to membership details, race info, and more.

If you still have questions, feel free to get in touch — we’re always happy to help!

1. Do I need any experience to join?
Many of our members started with no paddling experience. We’ll teach you everything you need to know. However, for your safety and enjoyment, all paddlers must be able to swim at least 50 meters confidently before joining us on the water.

2. Is there a minimum fitness level required?
If you can walk briskly and lift a paddle, you’re ready to start. Fitness builds over time, and we’ll support you at every step.

3. What should I bring to my first training session?
Bring a water bottle, comfortable quick-dry clothes, water shoes or old runners that can get wet, sunscreen, and a towel. We provide paddles and life jackets for your trial period.

4. Can I try it before I commit?
Yes! We offer a 30-day free trial so you can see if dragon boating is right for you.

5. What days and times do you train?
We train on Saturday and Sunday mornings and have a Wednesday evening session during the racing season. Times may vary slightly by season.

6. Where do you train?
We train on the beautiful waters of Pittwater. Visit our contact page for the exact location.

7. How much does it cost to join?
See our fees section below for a full breakdown. We offer great value for year-round training and racing opportunities.

8. Can I compete in races?
Absolutely! Members can race in club regattas and even trial for state and national teams, including the Australian Auroras who race internationally. We are a racing club.

9. Is there an age limit?
Dragon boating is for all ages and fitness levels! We welcome adult paddlers of all backgrounds and abilities, at this time we are actively seeking over those 50 years old (or close to).

10. How do I sign up?
It’s easy! Get in touch via our contact page, come along for a trial and we’ll help you take the next step.

11. Should I do some extra off water training to complement my water training?

We encourage you to do some cardio and weight training plus we can offer you some training guides to help you.

12. Will you have room for me on the boat?

Yes, we’ve saved you a seat!
