Our committee is made up of dedicated members who are passionate about paddling and committed to growing and supporting the Pittwater Dragon Boat Club community. Each brings a unique set of skills, experience, and enthusiasm to help steer the club forward, on and off the water.
Phil Glasby - PresidentPhil brings a lifetime of experience on the water and over 50 years in the civil construction industry to his role as President of PDBRC. Semi-retired, he has always had a passion for recreational boating—whether it’s kayaking, sailing skiffs and yachts, or piloting power boats. He joined Pittwater six years ago to boost his fitness and quickly caught the racing bug. Phil proudly paddled with the Australian Para Dragon team in 2025. Above all, he values the strong sense of community and camaraderie that makes the club special. |

Lindy Chester - Vice PresidentAs one of the founders of Pittwater, Lindy Chester is the driving force behind the success of the Club. With a deep passion for the sport and a wealth of experience spanning many years, Lindy brings exceptional knowledge and leadership to our team. She has represented at club, regional, state, and national levels—not only as a highly respected coach but also as a paddler. Her coaching expertise extends across all levels of the sport, from developing club crews to leading elite teams on the national stage. Lindy’s dedication, strategic insight, and ability to bring out the best in every paddler make her an inspiring and invaluable leader at PDBRC.

Barbara Sainsbury - TreasurerBarbara is the long-time Treasurer of the Pittwater Dragon Boat Club and a qualified accountant in her professional life. Her financial expertise keeps the club’s books in perfect order and ensures bills are always paid on time. Barbara’s passion for the sport and commitment to the club make her an invaluable member of the committee. A dedicated paddler for many years, she has proudly represented Pittwater at club, regional, state, and national levels.

Lorraine Islaub - SecretaryLou is a founding member of Pittwater and continues to be a driving force behind the club’s growth and spirit. As Secretary, she keeps everything organised and running smoothly, always with a warm smile and calm efficiency. Her varied career in IT, Marketing, Training, and Recruitment brings a wealth of experience to the committee. Now retired (and busier than ever!), Lou enjoys spending her time with family, volunteering, and staying active. Lou loves walking with friends, enjoying long lunches, weekends away, and indulging in her hobbies—reading, yoga, meditation, visiting galleries, shopping, and relaxing in the sun. Her energy, insight, and commitment to community make her an invaluable part of the team.

Allan Islaub - MemberAllan is a long-time member of Pittwater and a passionate water sports enthusiast. Whether it’s kayaking, surfing, or dragon boating, he’s happiest when he’s on the water. Now retired after a successful career in construction, Allan brings a practical, hands-on approach to everything he does. As the club’s Maintenance Officer, he looks after the upkeep of all equipment and helps keep things running smoothly behind the scenes. He enjoys building wooden boats in his spare time, reading, and spending quality time with family, friends, and his on-water teammates. Allan’s dedication and experience make him a much-valued part of our paddling community.
Marisa Rando - MemberMarisa is a dedicated committee member and has been paddling for over 12 years. A three-time Aurora, representing Australia and a World Champion Breast Cancer Survivor paddler in Hungary, Marisa brings both passion and experience to the sport. Her professional background as a Clinical Applications Specialist, adds valuable problem-solving, communication, and technical skills to her committee role. Off the water, she balances her love of paddling with the joy of caring for her 'many' grandchildren.
Mark Wilson - MemberMark brings a wealth of experience and dedication to our club, having been actively involved in dragon boating since 2005. Over the years, he has represented at the state level, showcasing both skill and commitment to the sport. His deep understanding of team dynamics and performance has made him a respected leader on and off the water. In addition to his paddling achievements, Mark serves on the Board of Dragon Boats NSW (DBNSW), where he contributes to the strategic growth and governance of the sport across the state. Mark also brings the discipline and leadership honed over 39 years of service in the Royal Australian Navy. His naval background complements his role as Men’s Captain, where he leads by example, fosters camaraderie, and supports the development of paddlers at all levels. |
